Recalling a Few WEIRD, Ontario-related News Stories From 2016...

Do you recall any of these odd news stories from Ontario in 2016?
Every year has them and 2016 was no exception.

We'd have to say the weirdest one that stood out for us was the Creepy Clown craze that began back in October. It started out in the U.S. but it also affected us here in Niagara and throughout Canada and even in Europe. They were so creepy that some were given a warning - or even arrested, for scaring the wits out of people. With that in mind, we'll start off our list of weird Ontario news stories from 2016 involving some unhappy clowns...

4. Sudbury, ON
Remember the one about the Mother Mary statue holding baby Jesus with the terracotta head? It caught everyone's attention. The original head was eventually returned but not before causing all kinds of ruckus and memes on social media...

5. Toronto, ON
Ahh. Who could forget the great capybara escape. Two oversized rodents - one male one female, later dubbed Bonnie & Clyde who became the subject of intense interest after they escaped from their handlers at High Park Zoo on the day of their arrival on May 24. Social media, you can imagine, had a blast with this one. The first capybara was eventually found on June 12 while the second capybara managed to elude capture for another two weeks before it was finally caught on June 28...

6. Sarnia, ON
Can you picture it? 1,500 Americans floating ashore on tubes, mats and other floatation devices, some with probably alcohol in hand, wearing no sunscreen or having no ID. All caught up in the St. Clair River's currents that blew them over to our side...

7. Bellville, ON
... and this was waaay before the mannequin challenge. They must have been real desperate cause they didn't just steal one - but eleven! And strangely enough, they were all females. There was no attempt either to take cash or merchandise - only mannequins. In fact, in one case, a $160 prom dress was said to have been torn off a mannequin and left behind...

8. Brighton, ON
And you thought YOU had (spousal) problems...

So what other weird news stories do you recall from 2016?
